Hitler's own Mein Kampf up for sale
A US auction house in Maryland is preparing to sell a copy of Mein Kampf that it says once belonged to Adolf Hitler.
Alexander Historical Auctions LLC, based in Chesapeake City, will offer Hitler's Nazi manifesto during its March 17 and 18 auction of more than 1000 other World War II historical items.
The copy of the book bears an inscription that says it was taken from Hitler's apartment in Munich in 1945 by members of an American field artillery unit.
It was kept by a soldier's daughter until a few years ago.
Auctioneer Bill Panagopulos says the book has an estimated value of about $US15,000 ($A20,100), but he says he expects the price to go higher.
The book is bound in red leather and has the title in gold print attached to its spine.
